QUALIFYING TIME SETTING FOR 2009

for

LICENSED MEETS , COUNTY AND DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS

A free Qualifying Time Setting program is available by download from this page

The program generates tables of qualifying times for different performance levels and pool lengths

The progression of performance achievement levels with age is based on a statistical analysis of swims recorded in GB Ranking over the period since 1995.

This approach relates achieved times to World Standards - expressed as GB or FINA points. By using the swims recorded by British swimmers over a long period of time it provides the mechanism to apply corrections for age and sex for each of the standard stroke/distance events.

Tables are printed for each of ages 9 through 17 and OPEN and for Long and Short Course pools.

The system covers the range of achievement between two levels of performance:

  • National standard - AAA Grade

  • Club standard - B Grade

Intermediate standards can be selected by inputting a percentage of this range. Typically 65-70% represents Regional standard and 30-40 represents a county standard.

Output to disk produces a file with the fields separated by TAB characters suitable for input to a word processor for conversion to a formatted table
